In 1946 Floyd Ellis and Harry Strodtbeck founded Ellis & Strodtbeck Ready Mixed Concrete with six employees and three 1½ yard portable concrete mixers.     

In 1955 Floyd Ellis and his brother Gerrard renamed the company to Ellis Brothers, Inc. (after purchasing Mr. Strodtbeck's interests). During the 1970's the Mount Vernon Corporate Headquarters was built, with a complete makeover in 1988 including an expansion of the building. 

Today Ellis Brothers, Inc. still remains on its original location in Mount Vernon, Ohio with additional plants in Mount Gilead, Loudonville and Johnstown. 

The dynamics of making delivering and placing concrete has changed a lot over the years.  Today we are able to produce a multitude of different concrete colors to suit any taste or design.  When making an important investment such as a concrete driveway or sidewalk at your home it is worth taking some time to look into decorative concrete.  Concrete can be beautiful by accenting your home’s entrance with a winding sidewalk or the rear with a nice patio.  These visual accents improve your homes value and appearance.
